Welcome!

Integrated Design Research
IDR, part of the Department of Integrated Design, Faculty of Architecture, University of Moratuwa, Sri Lanka, focuses on uplifting design in the region. It discusses design in Asia, vernacular practices, and the contribution of design subcultures to the creative economy through research and practice.
This year’s Integrated Design Research (IDR) Conference, themed “Design and Culture: Intersections, Inspirations, and Impact,” will explore the deep and dynamic relationship between design and culture. The conference will investigate how cultural contexts influence design practices and how design shapes cultural evolution in return. By examining the intersections where design and culture meet, as well as the inspirations drawn from this interplay, we aim to uncover the powerful impact that design has on cultural identities and transformations, and how culture, in turn, fosters innovation in design.
